NAVIGATING THE ART & SCIENCE OF BEING HUMAN

by Shelley Whizin

“What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly.” – Richard Bach

Butterflies are one of nature’s mysterious creatures, reminding us that life is transformational and short. The total time frame for a butterfly’s life cycle is about 6-8 weeks… from the egg to the caterpillar to the chrysalis, to becoming a magnificent butterfly… a true metamorphosis. Their short life span does not stop them from being utterly beautiful and perfect, nor does it stop them from flying 2500 miles just to be in warm weather to snuggle together with thousands of other butterflies for their winter’s rest.

Comparatively speaking, we, as humans, also have a relatively short life span, but that should not stop us from making the most of the time that we have, being utterly beautiful and perfect in our own way, through every stage of life… growing… changing… transforming… forever evolving… as we travel far and wide, inside and out on the journey of healing… with the intention of attaining a sense of peace and calm… feeling blessed beyond measure… knowing that our lives have mattered… knowing that we have made a difference… knowing that our souls have touched the hearts of those we love… preparing ourselves for our own winter’s rest.

Butterflies remind us that life can be a magical transformative journey. Just when we think it’s “over” as a caterpillar, a new life form emerges. Never underestimate the power of a butterfly or our own human experience.

It’s your life.  Enjoy the journey.  And, remember to bring love into everything you do.
